Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
General Clinic Questions
What should I expect during my first acupuncture appointment?
Your first visit will include a detailed consultation to discuss your main health concern(s), your general medical history, lifestyle and any medications that you are taking. I will also check your pulse and look at your tongue, which are both elements of the diagnostic system in Chinese medicine and will then give you an acupuncture treatment. The session lasts 90–105 minutes.
Is acupuncture safe during pregnancy?
Yes, when performed by a qualified practitioner. I specialise in pregnancy acupuncture in Surrey, using gentle techniques to support women through all stages of pregnancy, from nausea and fatigue to preparation for labour.
Can acupuncture help with fertility issues?
Acupuncture is often used to support fertility by improving blood flow to the reproductive organs, reducing stress, and balancing hormones.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on your individual circumstances and varies from patient to patient. As a general rule, the longer you have had a particular condition, the more acupuncture sessions you may need. I always try to give you a realistic idea of how many treatments you might need.

Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine
Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are extremely fine and flexible and most people feel minimal to no discomfort. I use a gentle needling technique to ensure your comfort.
What can acupuncture address?
While I have a special interest in fertility, pregnancy, and women’s health, I also support patients with a range of other conditions, including those suffering from stress, insomnia, headaches and digestive issues. Learn more about the conditions I see in clinic.
The Chinese medicine approach to "dis-ease"
In general, Chinese medicine focuses on restoring balance within the body. It addresses the root cause of symptoms, as well as treating the symptoms themselves. It includes acupuncture, herbal medicine, dietary therapy, and lifestyle advice.
Fertility & Women’s Health
Can acupuncture support IVF treatment?
Yes, acupuncture is often used alongside IVF to improve outcomes by reducing stress, supporting ovarian function, and enhancing uterine blood flow.
What is your approach to PCOS and endometriosis?
I treat these conditions holistically, using acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine to regulate cycles, reduce pain, and improve overall reproductive health. Lifestyle and dietary advice are also integral to my approach.
